Feng Shui (literally translated as wind-water) is an ancient Chinese healing science/art designed to bring individuals into harmonious healing with their enviroment, whether it be their homes, gardens, offices,etc. Based upon the power within the five elements of air, fire, water, wood, and metal (see Hartford Examiner article posted June 9, 2009) the idea behind feng shui is that everything in the universe in inter-related and according to how the energies of each element are blended together in very specific ways they can effectively increase, decrease or stagnate wellness. Practioners strongly believe that by educating oneself in the "never-ending wisdom" of this art individuals will be able to "master their own fate."
The New England School of Feng Shui located in Woodbury, CT was founded in 1999 to "bring the essentials of holistic studies and world-renowned teachers to New England," and will be conducting a number of programs through the rest of this year to educate the public about its principles and practices beginning this weekend (July 18-19) with a course in Feng Shui Fundamentals with Amy Mims, who will help enable participants to "clarify what they truly desire and remove obstacles in their paths by creating a home of work environment that supports them and expresses their life intentions."
