Feng Shui Your Office for Health and Wealth

Feng Shui Your Office for Health and WealthI was just organizing my office and came across a Feng Shui chart in my files. Called a BaGua, the chart maps the eight different energy areas of your home.

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of creating balanced and positive energy in a space to bring health and good fortune. To balance energy, it often calls for moving furniture, adding mirrors, wind chimes and coins and using certain colors.

Curious to learn more about activating the wealth corner in my office (because who wouldn't want more wealth flowing through?) I did some research and found many interesting ideas about how Feng Shui can help in an office space.

Big names and big business use Feng Shui.

According to expert Elaine Giftos Wright, Donald Trump said, "You don't have to believe in Feng Shui for it to work. I just know it brings me money." Bill Gates, Oprah, Coca Cola and even The White House have used it, too.

I'm in no way a Feng Shui expert, but here are some of things I learned that I'm going to put into action.

Start by clearing the clutter.

The less stuff, the better, so start by getting rid of things. Often we packrats have a lot of old energy, thoughts or emotions tied up in the stuff around us. Getting rid of things that we don't need will open up a whole new flow.

The Southeast is the corner of money and abundance.

Each of the eight directions has its own energy, and Southeast is the money corner. My office is on the southeast corner of the building, so that's good. It is suggested to put a red bowl with coins in it in that corner to attract more money, along with a lucky bamboo plant.

You should sit facing towards the door but not looking out it.

Don't sit with your back to the door, because that's where energy of new business enters. You want to see the door from your chair, or your energy is unprotected. Don't sit right in line with the door, though, where you look into the hall or see stairs, closet or the bathroom, and anything coming into the room comes straight at you.

Avoid mirrors unless you need to see behind you.

Mirrors can reflect and amplify negative energy. The exception is if you absolutely must be sitting with your back to the door (or door opening in the case of cubicle workers), then put a mirror in front of you, on the wall or on a stand, so you see the doorway reflected in it clearly.

Choose décor that makes you happy.

Choose only things that make you feel successful, appreciated and happy. If your desk has to face a wall, turn it into a wall that makes you feel good. Hang art you love, put up a photo mural, or pictures of people and places that inspire you.

Where your computer goes depends on what you need to do.

Put your computer in the North or West if you need to be creative, but in the Southeast if you use it to generate income. I have a bit of a dilemma because I use my computer to make money being creative; anyone have advice about that?

Hide the cords of office equipment.

Hiding that tangle of cords not only looks better apparently it's also good for freeing up the energy flow, or chi.

Healthy plants work wonders.

Have an odd number of healthy plants in the office to up the energy. They'll also raise the quality of the air and help soften the bad energy flow that comes from weird corners, columns, ductwork or anything which points toward your desk.

Fountains are fantastic.

A fountain is said to balance your energy as well as attract abundance and prosperity. If you can't have a fountain, then a photo or painting showing flowing water will work, too.

These are the things I'm going to put into action. I figure if it's good enough for The Donald, it's good enough for me.
