Homes in the Valley are on the market 74 days on average and sellers will do almost anything to get them sold. Some are turning to the ancient art of Feng Shui for help getting a sale.

Lisa Montgomery says she used to get some pretty strange looks.

“Ten years ago they used to look at me like I was much crazier,” Montgomery said. But the Feng Shui team of Lisa Montgomery and Marianne Kilekowskis use Feng Shui to stage homes and get them sold. Today thye’re working on Kim Ritter’s Mesa condo. She’s hoping it works some magic on prospective buyers.

“When they walk in I want them to feel the good energy of the place,” Ritter says. Before, Ritter's condo was lacking accessories and felt stale. Montgomery says it was missing some Chi or good energy flow. Just a few simple changes made a big difference.

“The mirror that we put by the front helps push the engery into the house, the fountain by the door helps create more energy and the plants that we’ve placed around actually help to clear the energy and add more Chi to the condominium,” Montgomery said.

The ladies say this approach works because it makes prospective buyers feel more at home.

“If they’re comfortable they tend to stay longer and when they stay longer they imagine their things in here and they’re more likely to buy,” said Kilekowskis.

And Montgomery says buy they do.

“Historically we’ve had really good luck on a lot of the houses where we’re actually seeing 18 to 27 days after we Feng Shui them, so I don’t expect them to take any longer than that,” she said.

It shouldn’t take you very long to add some Feng Shui touches to your own home.

The easiest way to do that, according to Montgomery, is to add a water feature and mirror near the door and a plant in the furthest left hand corner of the home. It could get the energy flowing and your home selling.
